Giuseppe Engineering Awarded $1.24M SBIR Phase II from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and AFWERX
Giuseppe Engineering to Develop a Space Mission Planning & Wargaming System; Providing Advanced Training and Preparing Guardians for Future Domain Threats
COLORADO SPRINGS, Dec. 12, 2022 – Giuseppe Engineering, LLC (GEN) announces it has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase II contract in the amount of $1.24 million focused on developing Distributed Planning and Wargaming System (D-PAWS); an advanced space mission planning and simulation environment to provide support to the 319th Combat Training Squadron (319 CTS). The 319 CTS, as part of U.S. Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), requires the capability to facilitate interactive, digital mission planning instruction to meet advanced capstone training objectives. Giuseppe Engineering will develop an integrated digital planning suite and a simulated common operating environment with customized user perspectives to prepare warfighters for future threats. This digital environment will facilitate instruction, build student competency, and provide real-time interaction bringing the Space Planning training to warfighters which will translate into increased operational effectiveness from the field command down to the delta level.
The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through a faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and losing bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) began offering ‘The Open Topic’ SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded. On November 16, 2022, Giuseppe Engineering started its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.
